Artist Statement
Paintings within Paintings 2021 is my solo exhibition at Project Gallery 90, Paddington opening in May 2021. It features works created during my three months self-structured Home residency program undertaken where I live and work in Wiradjuri country. My work for this exhibition has continued being informed by my background in ecological sciences and my current domestic life. Being grounded at home in these Covid-19 times, I took stock of the work I previously created at residencies and programs in Indonesia, France and Australia. All of the works contain references to previous paintings and/or drawings that I have re-visited in my new paintings playing with composition, colour and meaning, creating a new dialogue in this setting of my home.
