My painting practice

My painting practice is anchored in my science background within the conservation and land management field. I value working within interdisciplinary projects such as my current project with the Art of Threatened Species project, a collaboration with Orana Arts and the Office of Environment and Heritage. My research process includes fieldwork with specialists at a threatened brush-tailed rock-wallaby population site and going behind the scenes at the Australian Museum. My work investigates: how can still life become a discursive stratagem for the predicament of Australia’s threatened species? In the studio with guidance by pawed Nim, I set up still life scenarios, where I use drawing and sculpture to inform my paintings. I am interested in the possibilities of enticing new ways of thinking through connection and engagement with art.
